2012 New York: 2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel Debuts with 406 lb-ft of Torque, $56,725 Price Tag

2013-Porsche-Cayenne-Diesel If you asked any enthusiast about Porsche’s U.S. future 15 years ago, they would’ve never guessed the 2013 Porsche Cayenne Diesel was coming. A diesel-powered Porsche SUV might not please purists, but the 2013 Cayenne Diesel will debut at the New York auto show as the automaker’s first diesel offering in the U.S.

Porsche says its turbodiesel Cayenne will be capable of accelerating from a standstill to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds—likely a conservative estimate. The Cayenne Diesel will be limited to a top speed of 135 mph.

The 2013 Cayenne Diesel will not only be decently quick, but it’s also expected to return excellent fuel economy and tow up to 7716 pounds. Porsche expects the Cayenne Diesel to be capable of traveling 740 miles on the highway on a single tank of fuel, though official EPA numbers are still pending.

The Cayenne Diesel will hit dealers in September at a price of $56,725, including destination. The 2013 Cayenne Diesel will fit between the base Cayenne and the Cayenne S in the Cayenne model lineup.
